Thought about doing a readers (of the website) top 5 mixtapes.
Criteria - tape must have been released on cassette (so you can sneak in those german kool kid full clips from 05 etc). Prefer US mixtapes, but euro/row accepted too (japan springs to mind)
A short write up also preferred- why you chose em etc
Will post on main site, preferably with links to all tapes included.
Thoughts?

This is just my top 5 "best of's". Tapes or CD's focusing on 1 individual artist.
Pure mixtape list will take more time.
1. Cormega - The Montana Way - The first mixtape I ever bought in 1998. Listened to for years non-stop. My original tape still in awesome shape and the OG cover which I've never seen online. Mixed by The Dream Team.
2. Sean Price - Donkey Sean Jr. - His best material/album IMO and it isn't even close. Mixed By PF Cuttin.
3. Agallah - Da Mixtape Iz Da Album - See number 2. Mixed By PF Cuttin.
4. Mobb Deep - Mobb MIsses Part 1 - Like it says on the cover, "A Group So I'll, Even Their Unreleased Tracks Are Bangin'" Especially during this time frame 95-97. Mixed By J-Love
5. Notorious BIG - Best Of Biggie - while there is more comprehensive mixes out there of his unreleased material, it's still a great mix and holds up well. Mixed by DJ Mister Cee.
I can list some honorable mentions but this is my cream of the crop. Top 5 mixtapes on the way...

1. DJ Clue - Spring Tyme Stickup 96 2. Doo Wop - The New Testament 3. DJ Mister Cee - The Best Of The Infamous Mobb Deep 4. DJ Three - The Battle Zone 5. DJ OZ & Sasa Olskool - Piece Of The Cake
This is not my list of "best mixtapes". These are favorites of mine because I bought them when they came out and listened to them alot. Didn't buy many tapes because I spent all my money on vinyl.

A suggestion for a thread is one where we can post our own mixtapes - I've collected rare tracks for many years and made my own compilations! What do y'all think about this idea, does it fit the forum?

1) DJ Self "Let The Lox Go" 2) DJ Green Lantern The Blaze 3) DJ S&S "The Bad Boy Mixtape Hosted by Puff Daddy" 4) Ron G Halftime & Tha Rocfather 96/97 5) Hevehitta "3 Kings (The Lox Edition)"
History in the making of the Lox. The Rawness is one of their hardest/ eeriest songs ever. Bad Boy mixtape has such a weird intro with Puff Daddy talking shit about Pac during "Hit Em Up." "Let The Lox Go" is awesome. IMO, it's best to listen to it as an uncut tape and just let it ride through, gives you the whole vibe. 3 Kings premiered some old Lox songs in mastered quality. Ron G's 2 mixtapes (I know it's supposed to be 5...) features my favorite Styles P freestyles. On Tha Rocfather, it's over the beat "You'll See." On the Halftime, its over "All About Da Benjamins."
"L to The O The The X and Lyrical Perfection Rip You In Your Section Run Outta bullets- Umma Start Suplexin- Niggas on they back Yall Need Protection My names is Styles and this money come first... Im Dead Searious Ill put your honey in a hearse!"
